Bottom line

These plans are built around one idea: a small home can still have a real wellness routine. Each one puts the sauna next to an outdoor deck so you can go from heat to a cold plunge in a few steps. They range from a 396 square foot park model to a 900 square foot two-bedroom cottage. They are concept plans for inspiration, not construction drawings.

Adding a sauna to a small home

  • Power. Electric sauna heaters usually need their own circuit, often 240 volts. Pick the heater before you finalize the electrical plan and follow the maker's requirements.
  • Air and moisture. In Florida's humidity, vent the sauna and the bathrooms to the outside and use materials rated for wet, hot rooms.
  • Placement. Put the sauna next to a bathroom or an outside door. Every plan here does one or both, so there's a shower or a plunge a few steps away.
  • Weight. On a trailer or park model chassis, a sauna, plunge tub and tile add weight. Ask the builder what the chassis is rated for.

Before you build one of these

  1. Check that the house is allowed on your lot. Start with are tiny homes legal in Florida and the Tampa Bay ADU rules.
  2. Get construction drawings. A licensed architect or engineer has to turn a concept plan into drawings that meet the Florida Building Code, including wind load.
  3. Price it. Run the numbers in the tiny house cost calculator and compare builder prices in the Southeast.
  4. Plan the space you'll actually use. The square footage planner helps you test a layout against your own furniture and routines.

Questions people ask

Are these floor plans free?

Yes. All six concept plans are free to view on this page, and the PDFs are free to download. We ask for an email address so we can send you new plans as we draw them; you can unsubscribe any time.

Can I build a house from these plans?

Not as they are. These are concept plans that show layout and room sizes. To build, you need construction drawings prepared or reviewed by a licensed architect or engineer, and in Florida that includes design for wind load and, where it applies, flood zone rules. Your city or county also decides whether the house is allowed on your lot.

How big does a sauna need to be?

In these plans, a 4 by 5 foot room seats two people and a 7 by 6 foot room seats about four. Size the room to the heater you choose and follow the heater maker's clearance and electrical requirements.

Can I put a sauna in a tiny house on wheels?

Some builders do, but weight, power and ventilation all get harder on a trailer. The park model plan here is the closest: it keeps the sauna at one end with its own outside door. Check with the builder and with any RV park about what they allow.
